Produced by Denzel Washington released on Netflix co-starring award winning Viola Davies and legendary Chadwick Boseman.
The scenes are almost all in the basement of a recording studio in Chicago where racism, abuse on black ethnicity, pain from the past and oppression, modern slavery from white people are main topics mixed with Blues.
Fed with “bread and misfortune” and “forgotten by God” the band made of black musicians do not trust the promise of freedom and power offered by the white man.
With a tragic finale that raises lots of questions, this last work of Chadwick Boseman scream success and already nominee at the Golden Globe I am sure we will hear about it also at the Academy Awards
I am not convinced about the finale which does not make much sense to me.
I could barely recognise her but Viola Davis playing Ma left me speechless with her great performance, no surprise about that.
More a theatre play style rather than a movie style.
A deep inspection about racism and black community right which unfortunately are still on the news
Critics: slow in the first part, I personally found the tragic finale did not fit and I would have liked more Blues
Must be watched
